William Grote entered into rest at his home in Arlington, Virginia on August 8, 2017. Willam was the third so. Of Mary Louise Grote and Frank Grote Sr. He was born January 10, 1930, at home on 10 High Street in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He was predeceased by his older brothers, Frank and Walter and younger brother, Robert. He is survived by two Nieces and six Nephews and their progeny. He was a graduate of Thomas a Jefferson High School in Elizabeth and a graduate at Columbia University and a former US Navy...

He was predeceased by his older brothers, Frank and Walter and younger brother, Robert. He is survived by two Nieces and six Nephews and their progeny. He was a graduate of Thomas a Jefferson High School in Elizabeth and a graduate at Columbia University and a former US Navy Officer. At Columbia he was on a Navy ROTC scholarship and was a member of The Kingsmen, "Columbia's oldest and finest a cappella group" from which, two decades after, Bill was a member, the 1970's rock 'n roll revival group "sha-na-na" was born.

His business career started in technology sales in Boston and lasting many years in the Washington DC area, ending with his own company, Federal Marketing. He spent the last 20 years of his adult life as a resident of Arlington, Virginia. He was a choir member at St. Columba's Episcopal Church in Arlington and will be memorialized at St John's Episcopal church in Elizabeth, NJ on Saturday. September 28, 2017 and interred in the family plot at Evergreen Cemetery, Elizabeth, NJ.
